Dear world,
This is a rather painful post to make, but I see no way out but ask for help from the three people who read my diary on a sporadic basis. This is personal, and I'd rather not splatter it across the few planets that reproduce my posts, so please click below to see the rest of this post.
Some of you will remember that our landlord passed away in May 2006. And now, after almost 7 years of living in this house, we have been informed that it is being sold and that we will have to vacate the place soon (within a month or two).
If we could afford it, we would have bought this place, but sadly, we cannot. We really love this place, and if you look at these photos from January 2001, you will know why. Don't miss the photos of our garden - here and here.
So anyway - for the past couple of months, we have been seeing place after place after place, desperately trying to remain in this area (Sanjaynagar in North Bangalore) because it is close to my office (which is on Outer Ring Road, 5 minutes away) and close to my daughter's school.
For those of you who know this place, you will remember that it has a huge garden - ideal for my zoo (two huge German shepherds and a cat) and for someone who is as privacy conscious as I am.
An independent house, with a big garden, a lot of space, good ventilation and location in Sanjaynagar or Dollars Colony are our primary requirements. We need at least three decently sized bedrooms and at least one area that I can make my studio. Plus parking place.
We are NOT looking for one of those ghastly flat concrete blocks, with 3 feet x 6 feet "garden space", that are so common around here.
We will need the place for about 2-3 years at the most, since we have a very nice plot of land in the north of Bangalore where we would like to build soon (that will take about 15-18 months from the time we start).
We have seen lots of houses around here, but it has been one of the most depressing exercises I have ever undertaken. The places we have seen that have almost no garden, are dark and poorly ventilated, and have very small rooms. And the rents people are asking for these places are outrageous - upto FOUR TIMES what we are paying for our current place! I have yet to see even ONE place that is worth the money that is being asked fit it!
If there is anyone out there who knows of a place that we can call our home for a while, and where we would be happy, please contact me. We do not want to talk to any brokers - owners only, please.
Thanks in advance!
Atul
